Ryan Conklin At Sundance

Ryan ConklinDuring his time at the Sundance Film Festival, Ryan Conklin along with Chet Cannon, walked around Park City, Utah, and walked into the various venues that they were able to get into. One of the places they visited was a suite at The Sky Lodge where the charitable organization Blanket America was creating a PSA for their cause, using whichever celebrities stopped by. Ryan and Chet took the opportunity to get before the camera and be part of the plea.

There at the same event, the interviewer Gregory Mantell had stationed himself that afternoon on the 22nd in order to get some interviews from whoever wandered in. Mantell was able to get a quick interview with the RWB duo, which he posted on YouTube.

In the interview, they discussed the snow and cold in Park City, and how warm blankets were appropriate for the weather. Ryan said he enjoyed the snow, since he had seen very little of it in Pennsylvania.

Chet spoke about the business aspect of their trip and mentioned that he was also part of the scene, since (speaking for himself) they were "celebrities in their own minds." Ryan smiled as Chet bared his ego.

During the interview, Chet kept a tight grip on Ryan's shoulder. It was an opportunity to have sort of a reason for inappropriate touching.

Blanket America is an organization, as the name implies, whose purpose is to give blankets to people in need in America.

Ryan Conklin Visits Chet Cannon

Ryan ConklinA few days after Ryan Conklin returned home from visiting JD Ordonez in Miami, he was back on a plane, headed to see another Real World Brooklyn cast member, Chet Cannon. The purpose of the trip was to spend some time with Chet as well as go to the Sundance Film Festival, where Chet would be doing interviews for Young Hollywood.

Ryan left Pennsylvania on 1/17, but didn't get to Salt Lake City till the 18th, due to a flight schedule problem that forced him to spend the night in Phoenix. At SLC he was picked up by Chet, who had earlier traveled from his home in LA to meet Ryan when he got to Utah.

Chet was anxious to see Ryan again. Chet tweeted (coincidentally?) while Ryan was visiting JD, "Time to tell that special someone to ditch the zero and get with the hero."

Chet is an important person to Ryan. Like you would expect with a best friend, it appears that Chet is a person that Ryan feels totally comfortable being himself around. For most of the last year, Ryan was in the Army, where there's probably an expectation to maintain a certain butch attitude and to engage in the usual soldier banter. That would let Ryan still show his personality, but not his not-so-butch side that he can let be free around Chet.

Another reason that Chet is important to Ryan is that Ryan wants to pair with Chet on any entertainment business ventures. It's noteworthy that Ryan has shown that he can be successful as a solo talent, writing his own book and starring in his own MTV special. So it wasn't a given that Ryan would want be in a team professionally, as it's kind of unusual for someone after they made a name as a solo artist to reach back and rejoin the group he was in before. However, it's a preference of Ryan to work with others instead of by himself. That may come from his experience in the Army, where you're always working together with others.

That's good news for Chet. He's had some success with hosting and interview gigs, using the big glasses and bow tie shtick, but a partnership with Ryan should really boost his career. It's also probably the quickest and easiest way for Ryan to start another chapter in show business.

It feels unseemly to talk about, but it's been suggested so much by various people that Chet has romantic/sexual feelings for Ryan, and it has to be acknowledged that Chet's behavior has generally been consistent with such an assessment. Looking at Ryan's point of view, notwithstanding the freak-out from the kiss of the drag queen, Ryan had stated on RWB that it doesn't bother him when guys let him know that they think he is hot or even if a guy said he wanted to sleep with him. Accordingly, Ryan gives Chet a lot of leeway when Chet jokingly talks about his feelings or makes use of his hands. As a fail-safe, Ryan knows Chet has vowed to be celibate until marriage, so for that reason, he knows the sex talk is going to be just talk.

Ryan Conklin's Plans For The Future

Ryan ConklinNow that he's out of the Army, Ryan Conklin has written about what he plans to do in the near future. It's going to be a lot of travel and social networking.

The thing Ryan wanted to do the most after The Real World Brooklyn, but couldn't because of the Army recall interruption, was go back to school. However, that goal is going to continue to be delayed for awhile. One, because a semester has already started, and two, because he has a lot of other things he wants to get involved with first.

Ryan wants to do some traveling around the country, both for personal reasons and for doing speaking engagements at colleges and other organizations. He also wrote that he planed to go to Mexico for "spring break". While there, he is at least planning for the possibility of getting into enough trouble to warrant a temporary stay in a Mexican lock-up. (He might want to rethink that.)

Online, Ryan wants to do more blogs, more photos, and more videos. So people should be able to get their Ryan fix more often.

Speaking of communications, Ryan Conklin has made note that something that made his transition back into the Army and subsequently back to civilian life was the large amount of messages of goodwill he got from fans in 2009. The letters, emails, tweets, blogs (like this one), that people wrote to show how well they thought of him were very important to his state of mind. The messages made him "smile, think, and often times laugh. Humor is simply the best."

Ryan Conklin Love Doll Face

Ryan ConklinAre you tired of the bored expression on your best latex, blow-up "buddy"? Do you just want to smack his emotionless face and demand he at least pretend he's somewhat into it? Do you want to kick his tired functioning bottom out the door, and find yourself someone (cheap) who (you can pretend) really appreciates you (when you pull them out from under the bed)?

Well, Ryan Conklin has provided a solution for you. He's provided a do-it-yourself replacement face that you can use to bring the sparks back to your plastic love life. Just print out this photo that Ryan has made and glue it on the head of your own "Harry", "Big John", or "Captain Pecker". For the price of a piece of photo paper, now everyone can have Ryan as their boy "toy".

For women, his expression says he's really excited about being your guy. For men, well, he's either really, really awestruck by your own inflation, or else really, really surprised by what's going on, as he starts to sober up.

Ryan Conklin Visits JD Ordonez

After returning from Iraq, Ryan Conklin apparently had it high on his agenda to contact and visit his close friends, especially the friends he made while on The Real World Brooklyn. Of The Real World cast, the first one that it is known Ryan went to visit was JD Ordonez. Ryan traveled down to Miami to see him.

Perhaps Ryan may have picked JD first because Miami would be a nice place to visit during the winter. Unfortunately for Ryan, Florida was experiencing a cold wave, and the temperatures even in Miami were too low for beach weather. It probably didn't matter though as Ryan and JD got to spend some time hopefully renewing their friendship.

It was a brief jaunt judging by their comments, only 2 days, but about it Ryan wrote to JD on Facebook, "I had an absolute blast and can't thank you enough for being awesome. Thanks JD."

=================

It can be seen that Ryan had only been home at Gettysburg for three days before he made the trip. Besides seeing the family and local friends, Ryan apparently spent a lot of time during that period calling people to say how he was. You could tell this by his tweets:

"You know you're from a small town when your phone has more bars than your town."

"Pocket-dialing: Supplying the world with countless apologies and eavesdropping since the dawn of cellphones."

"Never buy food when you are on your cellphone. You'll buy things you don't like."

Ryan Conklin Back In America

Ryan ConklinAs 2010 began, fans of Ryan Conklin got the news that they had been waiting many months to hear, that Ryan was returning back from Iraq and finally ending his Army duty for good.

Ryan had let fans know in the Fall of 2009 that his time in Iraq would be coming to a close by the end of the year. And sure enough, at Christmas Ryan wrote about packing up his stuff and getting ready to leave. He thought he might leave the region on New Year's Eve, but after spending some time camped out at the Baghdad airport, he only got as far as Kuwait by New Year's Day. There was more delay at Kuwait, but after a few days, Ryan left "over there", flew across the Atlantic, and landed in Savannah on January, 4th.

His destination was Fort Stewart, where he would spend several days being processed out of the Army. While there, he was able to accomplish a few of the things that he was determined to do as soon as he returned to America. He was able to drink beer, eat at Taco Bell, wear civilian clothes, go to a strip club, and get drunk enough that he couldn't remember a cab ride home.

On January 9th, the paperwork was done and Ryan Conklin was out of the Army. He could, as he put it, "shove this uniform into a cold dark place and never see it again."

After that it was back to home and family in Gettysburg and that's where Ryan headed to. He flew to the airport in Harrisburg, where his elated parents eagerly waited to give him the hugs and kisses they had longed to welcome him home with. Coincidentally, when he got to airport, he heard its music system playing the song, “Who Says You Can’t Go Home?” One things is clear, it wasn't said by the many fans who prayed so often for this joyous event to happen for the Conklin family.
