In a YouTube video he made before his book An Angel From Hell went on sale, Ryan A. Conklin spoke about the excitement he felt from holding an actual copy of it in his hands. The publisher of the book, Berkley Caliber, had sent him an advance copy, and Ryan felt exuberant from finally seeing his years of work take a finished form. The exhilarated first-time author declared, "Honestly, it finally hit me that I wrote a freaking book. I've always known, but until I actually have something concrete in my hand - and just flipping through this - every word is mine, these pictures and the stories - I wrote a freaking book!"
Ryan went on to say that he would have a companion website (www.anangelfromhell.com) that would contain additional pictures and more information about events and other things described in the book.
As another source of personal satisfaction, Ryan spoke about being the narrator for the audio version of his book. The company responsible for the audio version, Tantor Audio, usually uses professional narrators, and would have with Ryan's book, but Ryan managed to get them to agree to let him do the reading. Considering that it it a first person narrative, and written like how Ryan speaks, it seems appropriate.
About the recording, Ryan said, "I've never recorded a book on tape before." [Actually he still will never have recorded a book on tape, because they are sold on CD and MP3.] "So I guess that's one more thing I can cross off my things to do in life. It probably wasn't even on my list, but it is now, and it's being crossed off."
