Once, when the girls had performed what Ryan believed to be an especially slow-witted stunt, he felt compelled to critique their effort in the Confessional. He felt strongly enough about it that he went straight into the room to give his evaluation even though he had been drinking a lot.
Ryan began his review of the girls' pranking skill with the statement, "Personally, I've seen more talent in shoes than I've seen with these girls." It is presumed that Ryan gained his ability to judge talent in shoes from his many observations of how well they performed as he tied the laces of other people's shoes backwards. Another unexpected, albeit odd, skill of the adept Mr. Conklin.
Ryan then went on to list some of the girls attributes: lame, dumb, annoying, fake, uncreative, not up-to-par, not cool, and lame (repeated for emphasis). It appeared that Ryan was not altogether pleased by the selection of girls that he was compelled to cohabitate with.
Wishing for a No Girls Allowed version of the Real World house, Ryan remarked that "The guys have tons of fun by ourselves." (I've been in many bars where all the patrons shared the same outlook, although I think Ryan may have meant it in a different way.)
It was important to Ryan that the girls be given no satisfaction for their substandard prank. He imagined that they were all in their beds with their covers pulled up, giggling and waiting for the boys' reaction. Ryan was insistent that there wouldn't be one. He hoped that the lack of a response would make the girls unhappy. He hoped that they would be made even more unhappy when he retaliated by putting a real fish into their beds.
For Ryan in his tipsy state, putting an animal again into someone's bed would give him the opportunity to show why he is the prince of pranks. He said, "Because guess what. I'm creative."
Well, we love him anyway.
