Ryan Brings A Friend Home

Ryan ConklinOne of the most interesting characters that Ryan Conklin met during his time on The Real World Brooklyn was Chef. They met one day in Manhattan. Ryan happened to see him in a store and, immediately taking a shine to him, invited him to come home. Chef had a big bushy mustache and Ryan has a compulsive affection for that kind of thing.

Ryan quickly found that Chef and he shared a lot of opinions on things, especially about the women in the house, or as Ryan was want to refer to them as, "the females". Chef strongly said that he was "not a fan, not a fan" of them. Like Ryan, he preferred the company of the boys, who he felt were a lot more "fun". He felt the girls, on the other hand, were stupid, because "they like to whisper a lot and talk a bunch of crap that doesn't exist!"

In particular, like Ryan, Chef had a severe loathing of Sarah Rice. The very thought of her would make Chef fear an aneurysm would burst in his head. He said in his growling voice, "She makes me want puke sometime. So fake! Such an idiot! Such a hypocrite!" Ryan smiled when Chef said these things, but then told him he shouldn't talk like that about Sarah. Ryan kept the pretense for a few seconds and then admitted to Chef that yes, he should say things like that about her. Chef was relieved that he and Ryan saw eye-to-eye on something that Chef believed in so strongly.

Ryan wondered that if Chef thought that Sarah was the worst girl in the house, then who was next in line. Chef said that it would be the transgender. Ryan thought that Chef was referring to Katelynn Cusanelli, but Chef said that no, he was referring to Devyn Simone: "You know she was born a man!" Ryan was at first surprised to hear that, but then quickly acceded to the logic behind it. Chef responded, "Duh! Idiot!"

Ryan had brought Chef into the confessional where they talked about the above and their new found relationship. You could tell they had gotten close in a short period of time. Frankly, Ryan couldn't keep his hands off him. Of course the main reason for that was that "Chef" was a Melissa & Doug puppet that Ryan had bought at a store.

The most interesting thing about Ryan's puppet show was that it presented yet another creative skill that Ryan has an above average talent at. Ignoring the inability to throw his voice without moving his lips, Ryan had an impressive skill of using both his hands to independently move the puppet's mouth and head and arm, while engaging in a most believable witty, off-the-cuff repartee with himself. His reactions to the puppet's remarks were great acting, especially when showing "surprise" in response to his own words supposedly coming from the puppet.

With practice, Ryan could be the next Señor Wences.

S'awright? S'awright.
