Ryan Strikes Back (Or Plans To)

Ryan ConklinRyan Conklin likes to express his creativity in various ways. In writing, filmmaking, song writing, singing, scrapbooking, he shows his talent. However, with intricate prank planning, such as what he devised for his retaliation against JD Ordonez for the infamous shaving cream prank, Ryan's work seemed a little too much like what should be a rejected script for a Bugs Bunny cartoon.

Ryan decided upon the plan one night as he stayed awake until four in the morning pondering and plotting what he would do. It had consumed his thoughts trying to think of a suitable way to strike back, but at last he came up with a plan.

(It helps to think of cartoon sound effects as your read this.) Ryan planned to get a large, whole fish from the grocery store and in the middle of the night, toss it on to JD's bed near his face. The awakened JD would get mad and chase Ryan back to Ryan's room. In the doorway, Ryan would have a slippery substance on the floor, which JD was expected to slip on. When JD hit the floor, Ryan's roommate Chet Cannon would douse JD with water while Ryan dumped a box of packing peanuts on him (WTF?). Ryan believed JD would then stay on the floor, crying, while Chet and he went back to JD's room and saturated his bed with cold water along with the contents of a can of shaving cream.

Ryan told the plan to Chet and called it "foolproof" and "a plan I think really could work." Chet, seemingly stoned on life or something, didn't disagree but just smiled, chuckled a little and tried to think of something to say that in any way related to what Ryan was telling him. Chet said, "I like the fish. The fish is good." Ryan took this as agreement that the plan was sound and he remained satisfied that he had the prank to end all pranks ("It's going to be glorious!").

So besides showing again that Ryan and Chet would be perfectly cast as twenty-something versions of the Katzenjammer Kids, the prank planning showed that it takes awhile for Ryan to cool down after he gets mad about something. He intended to wait for a week so that JD would no longer expect any retaliation and it was clear that Ryan still expected to be mad even after a week had passed.

From what we know of Ryan, the plot was a lot of bravado but not something that he would really do. For Ryan, pranks are a source of fun, for all involved, and not something for really hurting anyone. Anything beyond that is just ideas for Bugs and Elmer Fudd.
