On The Real World Brooklyn, roommates Chet Cannon and Ryan Conklin had a number of off the wall ideas for pranks, but it seemed like the strangest ideas came from Chet. On one occasion, Chet had the idea of taping on Devyn Simone's wall a bunch of publicity cards for "Jessie Lee's Pretty in Pink Birthday Bash". Ryan as the good friend volunteered to help Chet put them on the wall. It wasn't clear why someone would want to tape cards on the wall but Ryan felt obligated to go along. It quickly got strange, as one would expect with Chet. Chet said to Ryan, "Should we do it in the shape of a penis?"
As viewers of the show have noted, Chet had a unusual, somewhat obsessive interest in male anatomy. Ryan would usually joke with him about it, realizing it was a bit odd, but over time Ryan got used to it so that he started to accept it as normal. Chet's influence can be seen in Ryan's supportive reply, "Yeah, that's actually pretty good."
It can be seen even more in the conversation that followed (warning, this is the like the start of some very bad ryan/chet slash fiction):
Chet: I'll do the tip. You do the shaft.
Ryan: Alright. Well, who's doing balls? Are we doing c0ck and balls? Or are we just doing...?
Chet: Just the c0ck.
Ryan: The how is she going to get the point?
Chet: She'll get it.
Ryan: You got to put balls in there. How many [cards] do we have?
Chet: I'm a good artist.
Ryan: I still think we should do balls too.
Chet: I know what I'm doing.
Ryan: Is the shaft going to be this big?
Chet: Don't know.
Ryan: We need balls.
Chet: Okay.
Ryan: You definitely need some type of balls.
Ryan got his way and Chet did the outline of a scrotum with notepad paper. Ryan put the finishing touch on by sticking on hair from Devyn's hairbrush. The effect of Chet on Ryan was so great by this point, that Ryan proudly posed for a photo in front of the "artwork" so that he could have a remembrance of his accomplishment.
The next day Devyn confronted the boys after the card sculpture had fallen from the wall. She held the cards in her hand and told the guys that she knew that they had to be the ones responsible. Ryan knew the jig was up, so with a smile he stated the obvious, "It sounds like a Chet thing."
Chet as a cool liar, denied he was responsible. However, Scott Herman, having heard that the card object had "gone limp", said that "it must be Chet's then." Devyn, applying that same kind of logic, abjured, saying, "it was pretty big, so it couldn't be Chet."
Chet used his tiresome line that he found the accusation "offensive", while Ryan belched from his energy drink, relieving himself of the pressure and the effect on him that his roommate had wrought.
