Ryan In Reality Competition

Ryan ConklinBeside Chet Cannon, Ryan Conklin also really liked fellow Real World Brooklyn cast member Scott Herman. Ryan would say that he liked Scott because they were so similar, but he would usually say that in jest. Ryan probably admired a number of Scott's traits, like the way he dressed, how he had built up his body, his skill with the ladies, etc., and so Ryan might have thrown in a little wishfulness when he remarked about him and Scott being a lot alike.

One funny moment when Ryan made the comparison was when he used it as a comedic bit in confessional. He said that because he and Scott were so alike, he was using that as the reason for "voting out" Scott that week, à la Survivor.

Ryan and Scott did get along, really well, so Ryan wouldn't have wanted to see him go. You know, sometimes the "class clown" doesn't get along with the jock types, so maybe it was a residual feeling from school that prompted Ryan's pretend eviction.

The reference to Survivor brings up the thought of other reality shows that Ryan would be as good or better in. The Real World was an excellent vehicle for introducing to the country the phenomenon that is Ryan Conklin, but a reality competition show would be a great adjunct to show more of Ryan's mental prowess and gamesmanship.

Survivor would not be a good show for Ryan because too many contestants get really bad bug bit on their arms and legs and Ryan's sexy arms and legs need to remain unmarred. Big Brother could be good because it requires a lot of deceit and manipulation and Ryan could use his talent as an actor and a jokester to pull it off. On the other hand, it would be living in another house for several months with a group of strangers. In this case, there wouldn't be the opportunity to go out for a break now and then. Ryan would lose his mind and not make it to the end.

Not counting the major shows that require specialized skill, that leaves The Amazing Race. Other than Iraq, Ryan hasn't traveled but a lot of other contestants on that show hadn't either so it might not be a deal buster. It would be wildly entertaining to see Ryan do some of the stunts in the detours and roadblocks. Engaging with the natives would also be a hoot.

Many people would probably pick Chet as his perfect partner and that pair would certainly produce television drama. However, the stress of the competition would cause the partnership to degenerate quickly into constant bickering. That would probably cost Ryan the game. A better partner would be Ryan's brother, Aaron. Aaron seems very cool and collected and would be able to keep Ryan focused and on track.

Ryan and Aaron, you are team... NUMBER 1!
