Having kept his experience in the army and in Iraq on the QT when he first moved into the Real World Brooklyn warehouse, Ryan Conklin revealed it first to his cast mate Sarah. Describing what it was like in Iraq, Ryan emphatically stated, "Hot." The heat was almost unbearable, and Ryan could see why it would make the native people miserable and prone to do crazy things. Politically, Ryan agreed with Sarah that the U.S. was in Iraq for the wrong reasons. He was a little hesitant about it, but he went on to say that though one could claim that our soldiers were fighting for America, in truth it was as if they were soldiers belonging to Iraq fighting for Iraq. Ryan doesn't see any reason why any Americans should be killed as interlopers in some other country's civil war.
Still, Ryan felt there was some good from his time in country, believing it was both the best and worst times of his life.
Sarah wondered about any sights that he might have seen that were particularly horrific. Ryan responded that he was an infantryman, intending that fact alone would indicate an affirmative answer. He explained that they would do all of the front line work: walk around, drive around, talk to people, yell at people, kick in doors.
Not clear what kind of doors mid-size Ryan was able to kick in.
