Chet Probes Ryan On Man Love

Ryan ConklinThough his own sexuality was repressed by his observance of the tenets of his religion, Real World Brooklyn's Chet Cannon had no problem voyeuristically asking everyone else about their experiences and views, usually in graphic and minute detail. He often queried his roommate Ryan Conklin, trying to understand what normal feelings would be like.

He asked Ryan how he felt about JD having said that he thought that Ryan was an attractive guy. Ryan said it was cool. His view is that if a guy says you are attractive then it must really be so, since guys don't normally say such a thing to another guy and would only say it in an exceptional circumstance.

Chet wanted to know if Ryan felt that JD was also attractive. Ryan replied with an emphatic, "No!"

Ryan went on to indicate that he wouldn't have any interest in JD that way because he, Ryan, was straight and orientation is unchanging. Chet, lost on the subject of human sexuality without his Health class textbook, told Ryan that he should never say never. Ryan tried to explain it in terms that a sheltered church boy would understand. He said that when he looked at guys his preference was to high five them and not to slap their ass.

Chet, desperate for any physical contact, wistfully whispered, "I love high fives." Ryan, always a little unsure of Chet, told Chet he expected him to state a preference for the slap and then perhaps to ask Ryan to turn around so he could show it.

Continuing the pervy interest, Chet explained that the major reason he had brought up the subject was to see if Ryan felt bad that JD didn't say that he loved him.

Ryan said he didn't care about that, and to his credit went further by stating that he wouldn't have cared if JD said he wanted to sleep with him. It didn't matter to him since it wouldn't happen because Ryan was committed to his girlfriend.

Major kudos to Ryan for taking guy attraction as a compliment and by not being the least bit bothered by the possibility of someone expressing an interest in him.
