Ryan Conklin's girlfriend at the time, Belle, had a birthday while Ryan was in The Real World Brooklyn house. The night of her birthday she talked to Ryan on the phone from Pennsylvania. The conversation between her, Ryan, and strangely, Chet Cannon, made it appear that the Ryan and Belle relationship might have some problems.Ryan had plans to go out that night in New York. He was already dressed up when he started speaking to her and was anxious to get off the phone and leave for the party. To help end the conversation he handed the phone to Chet so Chet could talk to her for awhile and give Ryan a rest.
Belle was always worried about Ryan so Chet reassured her that he was taking care of him. She insisted that Chet promise her that he was. He did one better by letting her know that he slept next to Ryan every night and awoke each day to Ryan's "morning wood".
Belle scornfully replied, "Oh good, at least somebody does." Chet continued to rub it in by saying, "If it can't be you, it might as well be Chet, right?" All the while, Ryan sat frozen, disturbed that Chet and Belle were learning way too much about his relationship with the other.
Chet pried further by asking Belle what she liked most about Ryan. Ryan put his face in his hand, ruing that he had put the two of them in touch with each other.
Chet asked Belle if Ryan ever serenaded her. She said that in the year that they had been dating, Ryan had only played the guitar near her twice and she knew that that was less than what he had shared with the RW cast members whom he had only met a short time before. Ryan started to become insistent that the call should end.
Chet fortunately got bored with the conversation and dumped the phone back on Ryan. Ryan pleaded that he needed to hang up. Belle told Ryan that he needed to be "good", as in virginal. Ryan emphatically said that he would be, of course, and if were ever to have sex with a girl it would be Lady Liberty. Belle wanted to know who would be second to get the little ryan. Medium size Ryan said sharply, "Nobody!"
Belle insisted that the right answer was supposed to be her. However, Father Ryan quickly reproached her with the admonition of "Dirty! Dirty! Dirty!" And with that, Ryan was able to break off and go start having fun with the guys.
